Dare to be bare! Sharon Stone is known for her courageous fashion choices (like wearing a Gap shirt to the Oscars), but this time she’s skipping clothing altogether in a completely nude photo shoot for Harper’s Bazaar‘s September issue, on stands Aug. 18. The only accessories the 57-year-old depends on are diamonds.

In one image, Stone smiles while balancing in Jimmy Choo pumps, Hearts on Fire earrings, and wears a Tiffany & Co. diamond necklace. And in the second pic, the actress stands tall, in a bracelet by Cartier and another pair of Jimmy Choo shoes in a sexy, lace-up style.

Her body wasn’t the only thing the star bared; she also got deeply personal talking about the stroke she suffered in 2001. “When I came to, the doctor was leaning over me,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “I said, ‘Am I dying?’ and he said, ‘You’re bleeding into your brain.’ I said, ‘I should call my mom,’ and he said, ‘You’re right. You could lose the ability to speak soon.'”

Stone, of course, retained her speech, but there were things about her body that changed a lot. “It took two years for my body just to absorb all the internal bleeding I had. It almost feels like my entire DNA changed. My brain isn’t sitting where it used to, my body type changed, and even my food allergies are different,” she said.

Despite her setbacks, Stone is more comfortable than ever in her skin. “I’m aware that my ass looks like a bag of flapjacks, but I’m not trying to be the best-looking broad in the world. At a certain point you start asking yourself, ‘What really is sexy?’ It’s not just the elevation of your boobs. It’s being present and having fun and liking yourself enough to like the person that’s with you. If I believed that sexy was trying to be who I was when I did Basic Instinct, then we’d all be having a hard day today,” she joked.

But her confidence isn’t only skin-deep. Stone has also learned to love even the changes her illness had on her personality, and revealed how she had to truly focus to get better mentally. “I became more emotionally intelligent. I chose to work very hard to open up other parts of my mind. Now I’m stronger. And I can be abrasively direct. That scares people, but I think that’s not my problem. I have brain damage; you’ll just have to deal with it.”
