A Victorian-style charmer used as a wedding and reception venue for more than three decades is on the market in Orange for $4 million.
Known as the Jones Victorian Estate, this all-white house with a red roof that dates to 1881 sits on more than 1 acre at the end of a 972-foot driveway with entry gates. It has three bedrooms and four bathrooms with 2,449 square feet of living space spread across two structures.
That includes water tower rooms and a prep kitchen converted from an old buggy shed.
The estate has been updated and maintained through the decades with an eye toward preservation. Hardwood floors, a hand-carved fireplace mantle in the living room and crown molding are among the elements original to the era.
Interiors of the main house also include a gourmet kitchen, family room and dining room.
Upstairs, the master bedroom boasts a walk-in closet and direct access to a balcony.
Open space surrounds the tranquil grounds with fountains, lush gardens, a gazebo on the spacious patio and a waterfall pool and spa.
“When you’re there, you slow down,” said Michelle Gregory, the current owner. “The grounds are filled with hummingbirds and butterflies and different wildlife that’s so charming I put park benches around the estate so you can sit and take it all in.”
Gregory and her husband, Burl, purchased the property in 1988, property records show.
They obtained a conditional use permit that allows them to host weddings, charity fundraisers and other events. And although she declined to say how much the business brings in, Gregory concedes that it’s profitable and fully equipped to continue hosting events should a new buyer desire to keep it going.
“If somebody purchased it tomorrow, they could come in the next day and do an event,” she said. “We’ve got everything, from china to silverware to linens.”
