With the current state of the world, there is always room for change and a need for improvement, and all it takes is one person with an idea to make it happen. Johny Dar is one of those people, and some big name celebrities are getting involved. From Harry Styles, Emma Watson and Ryan Gosling to Usher and Victoria Beckham, lots of entertainers have backed Johny’s cause – and it’s easy to understand why.
Jeans for Refugees is a fundraising initiative that aims to help refugees from all over the world. The funds raised from the project itself will go to the International Rescue Committee which helps, daily, millions of refugees worldwide. The IRC’s mission statement shows how important their initiative is.
The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster.
There are one hundred celebrities involved with Jeans For Refugees and the way they help may seem simple, but the heart behind their contribution and the message it gives to others is more powerful than one could put into words.
The celebrities are donating a pair of jeans to Johny Dar who will then make a life art project, running for 7 – 10 days at a refugee camp, and raise not only funds but awareness, for the IRC. Not only will performing the art project at a refugee camp make the situation more real, it will also serve as a reminder of the talent, the determination, and the life inside of the refugees who exist within the camps, those who are trying to rebuild their lives, the ones who still believe in the future even when they’ve survived devastation.
After the art project is complete, the 100 individual pairs of jeans will be exhibited for a week at the Saatchi Gallery in London from the 22nd-28th August. After the week-long exhibit, each pair of jeans will be auctioned off at a special fundraiser where all of the proceeds that are raised will go directly to benefit the IRC, in turn, helping change millions of lives.
In the midst of all the celebrity names involved in the project, one stood out to fans across social media after a tweet from Johny today – Harry Styles has donated a pair of jeans for the fundraiser that he signed with his signature phrase, always providing love to anyone he can.
When you talk about charity, it’s hard to find a drive or initiative that the lads of One Direction aren’t a part of somehow, and even during their hiatus, they find ways to contribute to making the world a better place. It’s amazing what a smile, a song, a tweet, and in this case, a pair of jeans from Harry, Louis, Niall, and Liam can do to raise a person’s spirits and help be the driving force behind both change and happiness.

Thank you to every celebrity involved in this charity, to Johny for providing a mind, heart, and idea for this to be possible, and to the IRC for dedicating their own lives to provide hope for others.
